[edit] Summary

Royal Blue represents the colour of the Sea and Sky. Gold represents a variety of natural and man-made features of the district

There are four main elements in the Flag – the gold panel in the bottom left corner of the flag represents land, the blue Crest symbolises the mail elements of industry in the Cairns District – Sugar Cane, Bales of Merchandise and Ingots of Tin a& Copper

A Gold band divides the Ocean and represents the Great Barrier Reef, which extends along the coastline. The Marlin in the deep blue ocean represents Cairns as a destination for Game Fishermen and is a feature of the area for Tourists
