City College Manchester is a network of further education campuses in Manchester, England.
It is the largest provider of "Offender Learning"[2] in the Greater Manchester region.
[edit] The Future
In August 2008 it is set to be merged with neighbouring college MANCAT to create an 80,000 student 'supercollege', after funding bosses claimed they were competing for some students and ignoring others. In April 2008 current principal of MANCAT Peter Tavernor was appointed as head of the new 'supercollege'[3]. City College Manchester and MANCAT will cease to exist as separate entities on 31st July 2008, with the new 'supercollege' likely to be known as 'The Manchester College' being established on 1st August 2008[4].
[edit] Campuses
City College has five campuses, the three main ones being Abraham Moss in Crumpsall, Northenden, and City Campus.[5] Business courses are run at the smaller Fielden Campus in West Didsbury, and the college's Arden School of Theatre is in Ardwick. Courses for adults are run at the Wythenshawe Forum. The college has a large International Office in Manchester city centre.
