City Channel

City Channel is an Irish media company, who operate one cable television channel, City Channel (Dublin), and other variants in Galway and Waterford launched in March 2006. They subsequently announced their intention to licence their channel format across Europe.
Their current channel will, with its planned sister channels, operate something similar to the original intent of the ITV network, with core programming a mix of home-produced shows and imported programming, and city-specific news and current events coverage.
City Channel recently announced a major investment by international investment company Liberty Ventures BV. in the company.
The investment is subject to regulatory approval by the Competition Authority and the BCI.
Under the terms of the deal Liberty Venture BV. will subscribe for a 35.5% stake in City Channel Ltd allowing the company to expand it’s services and take the City Channel concept to new markets.

A few weeks ago City Channel also announced that it would begin a dedciated news service to the people from each of it's franchise areas. The news bulletin will be live every hour on the hour between 3pm and 10pm live from City HQ in Sandymount Dublin. The news team will be headed by Jennifer O Leary formely with Today FM, with a team of experienced reporters Claire Roache, Dave Mc Cormick, Karla Zambra and Rachel Wyse. This new venture serves to highlight further City Channel’s commitment to delivering local news and information to its audience across Dublin city and its franchise areas in Galway and Waterford. The news team envisage an expansion to morning and evening news broadcasts every weekday in the coming months plus an extension of the services to regional areas by the end of the month.
