Cistercian Monastery in Jędrzejów dates to the 12th century. Founded by the Cistercian Order, the town of Jędrzejów grew around it. Blessed Polish bishop and historian, Wincenty Kadłubek, lived there for 5 years and was buried there. In 15th century, Veit Stoss worked there. It has the rank of an abbey.
