The Cisco Catalyst 1900 is a 19" rack mountable, managed (configurable) 10baseT ethernet switch with 100baseTX/100baseFX uplink ports. This product was popular in small office networks because of its features and price.

This product has reached end of life (EOL) and is no longer supported by Cisco.

The switch was available in 12 and 24 port models with either 2x100baseTX uplink ports or 1 fibre and 1 copper 100 Mbit/s uplink ports

This switch is closely related to the Cisco 2820 series, which uses the same software, and shares many of the same features

The 1900 series came with 2 software versions.

  • Standard - A menu based software
  • Enterprise - Menu based but with a command line option.

Note: Cisco systems uses IOS images on all CLI configurable devices regardless of equipment types.

The last software version released was 9.00.07

  • IEEE 802.1D Spanning-Tree Protocol support with Port Fast [1] option.
  • Up to 320-Mbit/s maximum forwarding bandwidth
  • Up to 450,000 packets per second (pps) aggregate packet-forwarding rate.
