Cisco 12000

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cisco 12000, also known as a Gigabit Switch Router or GSR, is a series of large network routers designed and manufactured by Cisco Systems. It is marketed primarily to large service providers, as well as for use in some enterprise networks. The routers are made with a variety of chassis sizes and types, all of which share compatible card interfaces.

Routers in this series are designed to provide IP and MPLS services. To maximize availability for service providers, the feature set includes redundant power supplies, standby route processors, resilient fabric, and alarm modules.

GSR line cards are available for Asynchronous Transfer Mode, Frame Relay, Packet over Sonet (POS), and Gigabit Ethernet protocols.
