Circle of Freedom
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Circle of Freedom National Association, more frequently referred as Circles of Freedom, is an Italian political organization of centre-right local circles which was founded on 20 November 2006. Since its foundation the association has been led by Michela Vittoria Brambilla, former president of the youth section of Confcommercio.
The group is very close to Forza Italia, although there is no official affiliation and many members are active in other centre-right parties or to no party at all. Silvio Berlusconi himself, leader of Forza Italia an the Italian centre-right, proposed the foundation of the Circles of Freedom during the annual meeting of Communion and Liberation in Rimini in August 2006.
The goal of the Circles is to build a political-cultural group of citizens who want to take part to the national political life by starting from local issues, such as city administration, and, in the end, to build a united centre-right party in Italy, what is happening with The People of Freedom.
