Ciaran Barnes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ciaran Barnes is a journalist who has worked for a number of different newspapers in Ireland, although primarily with the Belfast-based Andersonstown News Group and the now defunct Daily Ireland.

In April 2005 he courted controversy following an article in which he claimed that a senior member of the Orange Order had mocked Pope John Paul II while the ailing pontiff was on his death-bed. The previous year Barnes had interviewed dissident republican Bobby Tohill just minutes before Tohill was abducted by an IRA gang.
