[edit] Why Volzhki Bolgari?
There was no river named Volga by that time. All peoples who lived on the banks the Valgia, (Meri: Great Water), Rava, Jul, Itil, Atil River called the river with these names. Please take away B and shift it to V which become Volgari = Vargari from Varjag / Varakki (pedlar). The name for northern traders using this Idäntie / Ostveg / Austrveg / Eastway to Kaspia and beyond. The same with Byzantium = Vizintium.
Why not Suars, Kuruk (Hill) Suars, Su-wars (Water people), Suaslanmaris, Kuruk (Hill) Maris, Suaslanmerdis or Suaslanerzas, Burtazas (Forest people), Murzasuwars?
I just wonder where have all Kuruk Maris dissapeared from Chuvasia. According to Finnish information based to situation prior 1917 there were many Kuruk Mari villages in the area which become Chuvasia. According to a Finnish map published in 1935 Kuruk Maris lived in Lipova, Mari Ola, Sundir, Jadrin, Sorma and Urmari areas villages and in Tsheboksari. Merdi (Mordva) Erzas lived in Tulema, Urmari, Kanash, Oraisi, Kirja, Shumerlja, Kurmish areas and in Tsheboksari.
Peharps I have time to create a complete list of all towns, larger settlements and villages in the Tshuvassia divided to rajons. After that it is possible to research to which language group the names are of their origin. At least can be said Mari Ola is russificated to Marinskij Posad (Mariposant).
The Kuruk Mari population living in the south bank of Jul (Volga), was in 1935 about 50.000.
