[edit] POV - vanity edit?

This article was substantially rewritten and expanded on 27 September 2006 in two edits (diff) by User:Amanderson1. The unwikified text which was added reads like the sort of bio which might be produced by a politician's own office ... and Chris Davies website reveals that his press officer is called Avril Manderson. Could this be the same person? (These are (Amanderson1's only contribs to date).

If so, this appears to be a vanity edit by a Meatpuppet.

I have edited the text a little wikify it to restore some neutrality (see diff), but it really needs further work. User:Amanderson1 has added some useful detailed imnformation, but there is also a lot of promotional blurb which ought to be removed. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 03:23, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

I inserted material about his arrest for cannabis possession, which seems sufficiently unusual and noteworthy to merit a mention (and was widely covered in the media at the time). I attempted to give a neutral statement of the facts about the alleged fraud at the European Parliament, where previously the article just parroted CD's own claims. A little more neutrality was called for. Then I reinserted the quotation of the email which led to his resignation, since it is the tone of the message which made his position untenable, not his views per se. And I removed an extensive quotation from a newspaper opinion piece excusing his behavior, as not suited to an encyclopedia entry. The fact of his resignation had got pushed to the very end of the paragraph: now it has the prominence it deserves. All of these changes, which I attempted to justify briefly while making them, were reverted, for no good reason as far as I can see. But I will welcome further discussion.Uthor (talk) 03:57, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
