Christopher Mitchell

Christopher Mitchell (May 21, 1947 - February 22, 2001) was a British actor most notable for his role in the BBC sitcom It Ain't Half Hot Mum as Gunner Nigel 'Parky' Parkins. He appeared in two episodes of Only Fools and Horses (May the Force Be With You; 1983 and To Hull and Back; 1985), playing policeman Terry Hoskins. He died from cancer at the age of 53 of the liver and other alcohol related complications a month before his father, actor Norman Mitchell, and in the same year as his fellow gunner and fellow Only Fools and Horses actor Kenneth MacDonald (who died of a heart attack aged 50).

Christopher Mitchell - is mentioned on page 8 of the Ace Books 1987 text of William Gibson's novel Count Zero. Mitchell is the head hybridomania man for Maas Biolabs. The following passage refers to Mitchell's accomplishments within the Maas Biolabs company:

"Silicon's on the way out, Turner. Mitchell's the man who made biochips work, and Maas is sitting on the major patents. You know that. He's the man for monoclonals. He wants out. You and me, Turner, we're going to shift him."
