[edit] The Christie Downs Extension
The original Christie Downs station was opened in January 1976. It was located approximately 29.7 km from Adelaide and consisted of a platform adjacent to what is now the Up track. The platform has since been demolished, but the footpath leading to the platform can still be seen.
At the same time a new timetable was introduced which in part had trains stopping at all stations to Brighton backed up by semi express trains that continued to Christie Downs.
[edit] Noarlunga Centre
In April 1978 Noarlunga Centre and the current Christie Downs stations were opened and the original Christie Downs station was subsequentially demolished.
