There are 5 % Christians in Turkmenistan. [1] The constitution mentions Freedom of religion. [2] It occurrs that bibles are seized. [3] Ethnic Turkmenes, who become Christians are subject to pressure by authorities. [4] They also are subject to pressure by Mullahs. [5] It occurrs that Christians are tortured. [6]

The Russian Orthodox Church is recognized officially. [7] Russian Orthodox Christians constitute the largest religious minority. [8] Several percent of the population of Turkmenistan are followers of the Russian Orthodox Church. [9] Russian Orthodox Christians constitute the largest religious minority. [10] They are under the jurisdiction of the Russian Orthodox Archbishop in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. [11]

Around 50 Catholics live in Turkmenistan. [12] There are ethnic Germans, who are practising Lutherans. [13] There are few Evangelical Christians in Turkmenistan. [14] Evangelical Christian Baptist Church of Turkmenistan, Seventh-day Adventist Church of Turkmenistan, Full Gospel Christian Church of Turkmenistan (Pentecostals), Light of the East Church (Dashoguz Pentecostal Church), Greater Grace Church of Turkmenistan, International Church of Christ, and the New Apostolic Church of Turkmenistan have registered. [15] Since 2003 all religious groups have to register. [16] Unregistered religious activity is illegal. [17]
