[edit] History

In 1989 Dr. Daniel Williams and his wife, Sharon, recognized a shortage of churches in the fast-growing Ponte Vedra Beach area. After almost three years of prayer and consultation, four couples gathered in the Williams' home in January of 1992 for the first service. By May of 1992, the church had grown to include seven families and moved into the Marriott Hotel in Sawgrass. So began the public ministry of Christ Chapel in Ponte Vedra Beach.

In March of 1993, the Sunday services were moved to Marjorie K. Rawlings Elementary School from the Marriott Hotel. Regular Sunday attendance had grown to an average of 45. May of 1994 brought the next location change to the Tournament Plaza. Having their own space, accessible at all times, significantly enlarged their ministry opportunities. Service attendance grew to over 400 from the average of 70 while still at Rawlings.

In June of 1996, Christ Chapel purchased twelve acres for construction of a permanent church home. In November of 1997, Christ Chapel's name was changed to "Christ the Redeemer Church."

On July 4, 1999 they entered their newly constructed building at 190 South Roscoe Blvd. in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.

They have planted four churches (Amelia Island, World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Chicago, and Brunswick, GA) and have a vision for planting at least 16 more by the year 2020. They are reaching approximately 50 nations through our missions work and giving.

The family Center was opened in Winter 2007.
