Chris Morgan was the Conservative mayor of North Tyneside, England, from his election in May 2002 until he resigned in April 2003.

He was the Borough's first ever directly-elected mayor.

He resigned after he was arrested on charges related to child pornography.[1] He was later brought to trial on the child pornography charges. The jury at Hull Crown Court found him not guilty of all charges.[2] A by-election was held to replace him - the winner was Linda Arkley. However in March 2005, North Tyneside Labour alleged that Morgan was still 'pulling the strings' on Arkley's proposed budget.[3]

He returned to politics as campaign manager for his successor as mayor, Linda Arkley, and for Tynemouth General Election candidate Michael McIntyre, however, both lost.
