Chris Marrou

Chris Rene Marrou (born November 12, 1947) is the top news anchor for KENS 5-TV in San Antonio, Texas.

[edit] Early Life
Marrou was born in Nixon, Texas and moved with his family to Castile Hills, Texas when he was in grade school. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in San Antonio, Texas. After school he attended Princeton University, where he was a disk jockey. After two years he returned to San Antonio and worked for WOAI-TV as a reporter. After a brief stay in Dallas at KRLD, Marrou returned to San Antonio as the 10 o'clock news anchor in 1973, and has held that position ever since, leaving briefly in 1980 to pursue an opportunity in Boston. KENS 5 news has dominated the 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM news slots during the Marrou era.

In 2006 Marrou received a law degree from St. Mary's University and passed the Texas bar exam in November 2007. He is a partner with the law firm of Ramirez, Marrou & Martinez de Vara, and continues to be the 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM news anchor for KENS 5 TV. Marrou is known for doing segments where he involves himself in different occupations or tries unique endeavors (such as eating a hot chili pepper). At the end of a newscast he runs a newsreel where he shows clips from the news and commentates about the events in a humorous manner.
