Chris Lightcap (born April 23, 1971) is an American jazz bassist from Latrobe, Pennsylvania. He has performed or recorded with Marc Ribot, Regina Carter, Craig Taborn, Mark Turner, Joe Morris, Sheila Jordan, James Carter, Butch Morris, Ben Monder, Tom Harrell and others.
Lightcap released an album called Lay-Up on the Fresh Sounds New Talent label in 2000. It features Gerald Cleaver on drums and Tony Malaby and Bill McHenry on tenor saxophones. In 2003, he released a follow-up CD on the same label called, Bigmouth. He currently leads a quintet featuring Gerald Cleaver, Tony Malaby, Mark Turner and Craig Taborn as well as working as a sideman with many different artists.
