Christopher "Chris" James (born July 4, 1987 in Wellington, New Zealand) is a New Zealand attacking midfielder and able to play very well on both sides. He played for Fulham in the English Premiership. He amassed 31 caps for the England youth team but has now chosen to play for New Zealand. James played many reserve games and showed great promise. He had been one of the best young players to have been at Fulham and had a lot of potential for the English Premiership.
James represents New Zealand, the country of his birth. Ricki Herbert included him in the All Whites squad for the friendly match against then-World Champions Brazil on June 5, which they lost 4-0 [1]. He did, however, set up the All Whites best chance with a good cross with his left foot, he has made a number of appearances for his country since his debut, playing the likes of Charlton and Sevilla in friendlies. He also scored a consolation goal against Sevilla which was calmly slotted away.
Impressive performances in these matches has won him the New Zealand Soccer International Young Men’s Player of the Year award for 2006. [2]. He was a member of the New Zealand under-20 team that qualified for the under-20 World Cup in Canada, scoring 7 goals in 6 games including a hat-trick against Samoa. It is the first time New Zealand has had a team qualify for the under-20 world cup.
In February 2008 he signed 2 year contract with Tampere United.
