My name is Loran Davis and I am from the disturbingly beautiful island of Newfoundland, which is part of the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador (Labrador has its own page on wikipedia, check it out!). I'm currently a very minor contributor to wikipedia, but I hope to gradually contribute more and become a more active member of the community, especially since I'm to start school in a month and will hopefully have much access to the library and computers there. Blah blah ... :-D "School" : Been there, done that, never got nuttin' cause I didn't finish.
Wikipedia can be complex and confusing, but I guess that goes with the territory when you're doing something of this scope - the world itself is complicated - and I think it all helps to lend an objectivity to the encyclopedia. It prevents people from becoming caught up in things that obscure the overall context - something about being able to see the forest for the trees.
Probably my most embarrassing "contribution" to this project was when I was a baby user (well I'm not entirely with the program even yet!) and I tried to create an article on a website my brother had created which was unfortunately not notable enough for Wikipedia; that's obvious to me now.
This user couldn't finish a book if he tried, but he loves them. Nothing like walking into an old library and smelling that old paper scent wafting up from the carpet.
