- A choral symphony is is a large musical composition including an orchestra, a choir, and soloists and adheres to some extent to the tenets of musical form for a symphony in its internal workings and overall musical architecture.[1]
- The term "choral symphony" in this context was coined by Hector Berlioz when describing his Roméo et Juliette in his five-paragraph introduction to that work.[2]
- The "Choral" Symphony is another name for Ludwig van Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, also known as "Beethoven's Ninth" and "The Ninth."
- The First Choral Symphony was a composition written by British composer Holst in 1923-1924. Holst is currently known best for his orchestral suite The Planets.
