Chocko

Chocko is a colloquial term for persons of Southern European, Arabic and Southern Asian (Anyone who isn't an Anglo/Celtic or Skip Australian) descent living in Australia[citation needed]. As a term for the Ethnic Australian culture, it was popularised by the Australian television show, Pizza[citation needed], whose mainly Southern European-Australian or Lebanese-Australian cast affectionately referred themselves as "chockos". It is often used in the masculine and neuter.

"Chocko" is an Australian rhyming slang term. It is the shortened form of the term "chocolate frog", which rhymes with "wog"- a now politically incorrect reference to someone of Merditerranean (Greek, Italian, Yugoslav, Lebanese, and so on) descent. An alternative Aussie rhyming slang equivalent is "freddo", which is a side reference to the chocolate candy called a Freddo Frog.
"Chocko" is also an archaic term referring to an Australian Reserve Army soldier, and is short for "Chocolate soldier".
