I fixed the reference to James L. Holloway. It was J.L. Holloway III, not Jr., who served as CNO, per the Naval Historical Center list of CNOs: http://www.history.navy.mil/faqs/faq35-1.htm.

J.L. Holloway, Jr. was also a U.S. Navy admiral, and served as superintendent of the US Naval Academy. http://www.usna.com/News_Pubs/Publications/Shipmate/2001/2001_12/USNASupes.htm USNA Shipmate magazine, Dec 2001 issue.

[edit] CNO careers

As befitting the top job in the Navy, CNO is usually the last stop in an admiral's career. Morinao 17:25, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
