[edit] Light as a Feather

Light as a Feather - 1972 or 1973? The official discography says 1973. Fredrik Johansson - talk - contribs 23:44, 27 January 2006 (UTC) It was probably recorded in 1972 and released in 1973. There are other sources besides that one. See allmusic.com --Dogru144

[edit] The Ultimate Adventure

His new cd, also inspired by a work of L. Ron Hubbard is will be released soon. He is currently promoting it. This should be included in the article. His current quintet is called "Touchstone"

[edit] "Current"

You shouldn't use the word 'current' in an encyclopaedia - this 'current' project you speak of is already dated. Corea is touring with a new group already (april 2006).

[edit] Scientology references

I think the Scientology reference needs to be stripped back, it's practically an advertisement for this religion/cult, one that is quite controversial and much maligned (not without due cause). Is this an item about a musician and his career? if so his religious leanings should not be given so much emphasis. Corea talks about ethics, what sort of code of ethics does "fair game" attempt to embrace: Fair Game (Scientology) Hubbard detailed his rules for attacking critics in a number of policy letters, including one often quoted by critics as "the Fair Game policy." This allowed that those who had been declared enemies of the Church, called "suppressive persons" or simply "SP," "May be deprived of property or injured by any means... May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed." (taken from HCOPL 18 Oct 67 Issue IV, Penalties for Lower Conditions )

Since your comment in August 2006, the Scientology/Inspiration section has become slightly more neutral. As it stands now, I don't think it's an advertisement for Scientology. It only details how Corea (in his own words) feels Scientology has inspired him. It's irrelevant to this article that you and I might think Scientology is a questionable religion/cult/moneymaking scheme with an alarming lack of scruples. Corea's advocacy of Scientology is notable, especially when Scientology is a big influence on his music. -kotra 22:48, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Discography

The official SonyBMG Masterworks discography link for this artist is as follows

It (in most cases) contains a full listing of in-print CDs released on the SonyBMG labels within the US (for the moment), along with track listings and in some cases audio clips (which will become more robust in the new year). Ecommerce links are provided inobtrusively.

I have been informed that it creates a conflict of interest to post these links directly from my account, so please consider adding the page to the link section. Thanks.

[edit] Sourced Joe Farrell remark

Someone has put back in the unsourced Joe Farrell remark I deleted, this time with a dead link in support of it. It's coming out. S. M. Sullivan 03:30, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

Someone put back the sourced Joe Farrell remark you deleted because by Wikipedia policy you shouldn't have deleted it in the first place. It has gone back in, both because there was no reason to take it out and because that "dead" link is quite alive and well. -- Antaeus Feldspar 17:41, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Like Minds

I fixed the link to the album Like Minds, because it redirected to the movie of the same name. Jollyjoegiant 01:56, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Problem in Jazz Fusion

The second paragraph has a distorted comparison with Mahevishnu Orchestra. While Chick did place more emphasis on synthesizers, the Mahevishnu Orchestra far from shunned virtuosity. A lot of Mahevishnu tracks are little other than long John McLaughlin solos, where he played mostly fast notes. You understate your case significantly, both in what you mention, and how you state it. McLaughlin was not only fast, but, more importantly, versitile. Fast could refer to heavy metal power note shreds. McLaughlin is considered by many to be 1 of the best guitarists who ever lived, period. Should be changed.

[edit] other inspirations:

Not all coreas output is hubbard/scientology related (@ least not directly). I know for certain that First He Cries, then He Sings refers to a line from the I-Ching.Thaddeus Slamp 19:17, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Best of Chick Corea

Why doesn't the discography mention the 1993 CD "Best of Chick Corea"? [1] Enk 22:02, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Discography

The discography has been reinstated as the seperate discography page is a shoddy,woefully-incomplete page Paul210 18:07, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

I have redirected the separate discography article to Chick Corea#Discography --Mysdaao 20:40, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cuban Roots album

In 1967 Chick Corea played on Cuban Roots, a cuban/jazz instrumental experiment put together by Mark Weinstein. Due to a personal dispute the record company sunk the album and only 500 copies were made. A few years ago a Japanese company bought the master tapes and reissued the album on CD. Its a great album and has enjoyed a successful second life. The album focuses on horns and drums, but Corea's piano playing on the album is phenomenal. I think the album is worth mentioning. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.106.194.122 (talk) 22:21, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
