I grew up in the Suburbs of Chicago in the 1950's and 1960's and we subscribed to The Chicago Daily News. Being an afternoon paper we would read it when we came home from school and in the evening. It was a 6 day a week newspaper so we would buy The Chicago Tribune at the store on Sundays. I remember Sydney Harris's Column in The Daily News most because it was titled Things I Found While Looking For Something Else. This is pretty much a side benefit of all internet searching. We grew up reading this newspaper to get a perspective on Chicago and the World. There was our local newspaper The Woodstock Sentinel and the quality of The Chicago Daily News was evidently much richer than The Sentinel. I still remember the final front page headline of The Chicago Daily News "So Long Chicago!" on March 4, 1978. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by AllanMatthes (talk • contribs) 11:56, December 23, 2005 (UTC).
