[edit] History

The Professional football league of China was found in 1994 as the Chinese Football Association Jia A League (甲A联赛). After 10 years of existence, the Chinese FA decided that the league should follow the footsteps of English football and create a new top tier league known as the Chinese Super League.

So far 14 seasons have been completed, with 4 seasons as the Chinese Super League. Dalian Shide is the most successful team with 8 triumphs and they are the only team to win consecutive titles, with 3 consecutive titles from 1996 to 1998 as well as from 2000 to 2002.
