Child Jesus of Prague School is a Christ-centered school community that dedicates all its efforts and hardwork towards the holistic development of students. Using the Montessori Style of Teaching, our reputation of having students who are fast readers and learners usually exceeds the expectations of parents. CJPS was established in 1982. Our long years of experience in the field of education prove to be our strength in winning different academic and non-academic contests. This 2007, Child Jesus of Prague celebrates 25 years of continued commitment to educational excellence. On the present site of the Elementary Department in Calumpang, Binangonan, will soon rise a redesigned campus with more classrooms, more enhanced and improved facilities to serve our ever-growing student population. Child Jesus of Prague School, committed to the total formation of every individual.

[edit] Vision/Mission
The School’s Vision A school community that believes every child is gifted with and given talents that can be developed to make him a responsible and loving child of God and citizen of our country.
The School’s Mission “We are a Christ-centered school community committed in developing the physical, intellectual, moral, social and spiritual aspects of every individual with reference to his roles in the family, community and in the society where he belongs.”
[edit] History of School
Child Jesus of Prague School was founded by Mrs. Antonia A. Aprecio and Mr. Bonifacio C. Aprecio Jr. in April 1982 offering education for nursery, kindergarten and preparatory students.
The name of the school then was Aprecio- Arcilla Children's House and it was previously located right below the Aprecio residence in Libid, Binangonan, Rizal.
From the original 1st preparatory batch of 31 students, the population of the school grew to more than 300 students.
From 1984 to the early 90’s, the growth rate was close to 30% every year. In 1995, the total student population of Child Jesus of Prague Learning Center reached as high as 714.
Due to the seemingly fast growth of the school and the additional levels being offered, Mr. and Mrs. Aprecio thought that it will be wise to change its’ name again to better describe its’ size.
From its old name that connotes small in capability and size, the “learning center” was changed to “School”. After enjoying several years of increase in enrollees, CJPS gradually lost more than 200 students. From 1997 to 2000, the school’s population was averaging only 530.
This was mainly due to the rise of new competitors in the area who offer cheaper tuition fee rates and the continuous deterioration of the country’s economy.
In March 2000, the founders decided to establish the high school department in Batingan, Binangonan, Rizal. Because of this decision, Child Jesus of Prague School regained more than 150 students.
Currently, the student population of CJPS is 810 students with the more than 65 teaching and non-teaching staff.

Pre School
It’s true that many of the happiest teachers work with preschoolers. Why? It’s because these little children are more appreciative of our efforts. Their desire to gain recognition makes it easy for us to motivate them. Furthermore, their inquisitive minds never fail to amaze us and their smiles and humility are simply contagious.”
- Teacher Joanna
“It is not easy to be a preschool teacher. To teach 4-5-year old children is not a joke; their future is in our hands. I can compare them with a sponge since they can absorb and imitate us easily: the way we talk, the way we walk or even our gestures and mannerisms. For me, teaching preschoolers is not a job; it is a big responsibility.”
- Teacher Minda
“Being a preschool teacher is not a position to boast of rather it is a big task to perform and I consider preschool as a “magical age” when children are excited about learning. Everything is new to them. Their eyes open in wonderment. At such a young age, they are like “little teachers” on their own little ways because they already know how to respect each other, know how to take responsibility for their own things. Every kid is really a joy bringer.”
- Teacher Lorna
Pre-School Life
Clearly, the preschool years are very important. Research tells us that the first 6 years of a child’s life impact his learning potential for the rest of his life. A day in the life of a preschooler is predicated in a way that every aspect of his being will be equipped with the skills necessary to live a successful life.
A typical day of an excited four to six-year old child in the school begins as soon as he enters his second home, his classroom. He then chooses an activity to do; he completes a puzzle, reads storybooks, forms structures with blocks, bricks or clays or plays with educational toys. The class starts when the teacher or the teacher aide calls him and his classmates to gather in a cozy corner of the room and are led to sing a song, recite a poem, or share an experience about a given theme or to listen to a story.
Thirty minutes after the free-choice activity and Morning Meeting, it is time to hone his intellectual aspect. His communication skills are developed as he first learns the sound each letter makes so he can form words; he then tries to put the words together to make phrases and sentences. Throughout his experience, the child develops the small motor skills he needs to write legibly and his auditory and visual skills necessary for learning to read. In Math, he learns how to count and to solve problems. He likewise enjoys topic-related activities and marvels every time he accomplishes one. The child expresses himself and shows his creativity through music, movement and art exercises which also gives him time to interact with his classmates.
But the preschooler, gifted with talents and skills, learns to do everything for God’s greater glory. Through spiritual exercises, his fundamental relationship with God is developed along with nurturing relationship with fellow human beings and appreciating other creations.
Elementary
A day in Child Jesus starts like any other. As the sun shines on the campus, the morning bell rings signaling the start of the morning ceremonies. Students, some still sleepy-eyed, while others, keen and eager, file out of their classrooms and head over to the courtyard, where they recite the morning prayer, sing the national anthem and pledge allegiance to family, flag and country.
As they stand in line shoulder to shoulder with their classmates, friends and teachers, students feel that they are part of an exceptional group. Each one chants and sings in unison. Their combined pleas for guidance strengthen as they recite their prayer. Their Lupang Hinirang invigorates and awakens the Filipino spirit, making everyone ready to face a new and challenging day. Indeed, every student a piece of a puzzle; a member of a group --- an assembly greater than the sum of its parts.
Child Jesus of Prague School (CJPS) has always envisioned and practiced educational excellence. On the verge of entering its first quarter century of existence, this mission is as vivid and alive as when its founders prepared to welcome their first pupils, back in 1982.
CJPS has established that an individual pupil back then, and more so now, must be developed holistically. Hence, its mission to be:
A Christ-centered school community committed in developing the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual and moral aspects of every individual with reference to his roles in the family, community and society where he belongs.
Thus, as the learning day begins and broadens, the pupils of CJPS encounter situations and activities that aim to polish and build them up into productive citizens of the community. A balanced mixture of academics and non-academics serves as an introduction to the world they will inhabit and live in.
Our highly able and competent teachers supply these life lessons. They are professionals that consider the teaching profession as a noble mission to fulfill; a collaboration with God's plan of creation and a vehicle of human fraternity.
Each school day offers something different to the students. CJPS strive to maintain a higher standard of teaching and this ensures a conducive and interesting learning experience. Theory and practice are blended together, enlivening each subject. Therefore, a day missed from school is an incomplete day.
When the final bell rings, and the students head for home, a certain kind of sadness descends in the classrooms, the empty courtyards and corridors. But as the world cycles from night to day, the never ending quest for the light of education begins again --- the morning bell rings once more as another bright and challenging day at Child Jesus of Prague School begins.

Academics
At Child Jesus of Prague School, we offer a well-designed and well rounded curriculum that aims to train students to think critically, to speak confidently and write clearly.
The process of becoming educated includes not only the mastery of highly demanding subject matters but also the process of developing their ability to communicate effectively.
Students and teachers engage in exciting and free-ranging discussions that goes beyond the walls of the classroom. Subjects are taught in English (Except for Filipino and Araling Panlipunan) and students are also expected to respond in the same medium.
Through our extensive academic programs, we believe that we do not only train critical thinkers but powerful speakers and writers as well.
Extra Curricular
“I want my children to understand the world, but not just because the world is fascinating and the human mind is curious. I want them to understand it so that they will be positioned to make it a better place. Knowledge is not the same as morality, but we need to understand if we are to avoid past mistakes and move in productive directions. An important part of that understanding is knowing who we are and what we can do... Ultimately, we must synthesize our nderstandings for ourselves. The performance of understanding that try matters are the ones we carry out as human beings in an imperfect world which we can affect for good or for ill.”
- Howard Gardner 1999: 180-181 (Proponent of Multiple Intelligences)
Philippine Schools and educators are slowly realizing the mistakes of the past. We are now moved by Dr. Howard Gardner’s work which truly created a paradigm shift among educators. From the old mentality of solely focusing on the development of the intellectual and emotional intelligences among students, schools now are accepting that each individual may excel in eight different types of intelligences.
Through our objective based extra-curricular activities, we aim to equality develop the multiple intelligences of our students. Activities done through the various school clubs such as on-stage plays, sports competitions, art contest and work shops, musical concerts, science explorations and experiments, Math Olympics, journalism and entrepreneurship are geared towards providing an avenue for the development of their different intelligences.
