[edit] Chester Himes
Chester Himes is a very good writer. This site can take much more expansion. The expansion beginning Apr 28 was done anonymously because I have some computer cookie issues.McDogm --152.163.100.9 06:36, 30 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I agree. Have you heard of FOCH (Friends of Chester Himes)? That information might be a good addition to this article, or as an article of its own. Wikipedia is in need of expansion in some very specific areas. Paul Haymon 09:46, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well, no, I haven't heard of FOCH, but I did major in Film Studies, and have read a lot of Dashiell Hammett and watched a lot of Hitchcock and Bochco and the like. It is pretty obvious to me that Himes really brought the crime drama to a modern level of seriousness, and in fact I believe the sentence "Modern crime films and television (such as Bochco, Eastwood, even Boys n the Hood) would not be possible without the pioneering work of Chester Himes." I don't even think that Banacek, Hawaii 5-0 or Columbo would be around if it weren't for him. But, I am not a scholar and any such statement from me would be "original research" and more or less inadmissible in an article. However great Dennis Franz may be in NYPD Blue, he owes a lot to Himes. --McTrixie/Mr Accountable 17:40, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
Dubious info? The site says that Himes won the Grand Prix de la litterature policiere in 1958, link provided, but when we look at the link, we found out that he didn't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.57.3.138 (talk) 03:41, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
