[edit] description

Do readers feel that the phrase "Chinese Buddhist" is an accurate and non-misleading descriptor for this person? Shawnc 06:49, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I will change it to Taiwanese.Davidreid 11:23, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Very short bio

This is a very short bio of Master Cheng Yen. There is so much interesting information that should be added. I have a couple of good books on her that I will thumb through to get some good info to add to the bio. Ludahai (10/3 14:00 UTC)

Do go ahead with it. I am sure it can be improved a lot. Davidreid 04:05, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
I just started. I will do the best I can with it. 125.228.17.11 11:59, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] NPOV?

Does anyone else feel that this article is not NPOV enough? I'm a member of Tzu Chi myself, but even I feel a bit uncomfortable reading an article that completely fawns over Master Cheng Yen, like this one. For example, the sentence "This 25-minute address is both teaching and inspirational" is unnecessary and not NPOV.

I believe it is necessary to go through the article and remove content that violates Wikipedia's NPOV policy. Unfortunately, this will undoubtedly make the article sound a lot less flattering. Any opinions?Bhamv 11:37, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nobel Peace Prize nomination

  • Among other recognitions, Cheng Yen was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.

Being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize is an honor, but it is not official or even prestigious. Any national legislator or about a third of the university professors in the world can make a nomination, and there have been as many as 140 some years. Nominators are requested to keep their nominations secret, so it's only those wishing publicity who make announcements, and more often it is impossible to verify. I see no reason to keep it. No offense to the subject, this is a general Nobel Peace Prize "nominees" issue. -Will Beback · · 08:47, 21 December 2006 (UTC)
