"at the time the elm trees bloom four weeks before the maple trees bloom five weeks before redbud trees bloom eight weeks before the start of the apple tree blossom nine weeks before the peak of the apple tree blossom"

I think it's unclear from the text that these are all the SAME time. They are simply different reference points so you can figure out when the right time is in YOUR climate. --Michael Bush
