In this stub one of the main churches in the town is referred to as Catholic and the other as Protestant. This, whilst technically not incorrect, perpetuates an 18th century prejudice that is now rejected by most Christians. The older church belongs to the Church of England, which church will readily point out that in its Book of Common Prayer dating from 1549 and 1662 the word Catholic occurs favourably many times and the word protestant not even once. It is normal these days to call it the Anglican church. The two churches in Cheadle are both dedicated to Saint Giles and readily come together with other churches in ecumenical ventures.

Would there be any objection to the substitution of Anglican for Protestant?

[edit] Schools

I've removed this section because the text was lifted wholesale from the schools' websites. As well as being uncyclopedic, it was a possible copyright violation.

Are you also the vandal from 86.132.30.223 who removed Cheadle Grammar (deceased) from the list of schools?

I changed the list of schools, to include more updates schools. Having a school that now doesn't exist either shouldn't be in there, or have it's own section, otherwise you could include Mackenzie, the monkhouse (from 90 years ago) or even the boys school. --Samuelhale (talk) 22:09, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

It looks as if you want this to be a gazetteer item, limited to what's going on here and now, rather than an encyclopaedia article. With this Henry Ford attitude, are you going to remove all the stuff about coal mining next, and then junk what's left about metal working and the railways (except Foxfield)? The thing is, if you're going to include a school that is no more, than either it should have a new catagory (as everything else seems to), or not at all. Putting silly things like 'deceased' or 'R.I.P', which intended for people, not schools, is just uninformative and doesn't look good. As I'm sure you'll agree, this is an encyclopedia, and so forth putting past schools into it should go in the above mentioned or in 'History'. Your comment towards me as a 'vandal' was entirely hypocritical, seeing as I organised the schools into some order and removed your addition. --Samuelhale (talk) 21:10, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
