Chestnut Ridge Middle School

Chestnut Ridge Middle School is a school located in Washington Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey, in Gloucester County, New Jersey, United States. It is part of the Washington Township Public School District. The school opened in 1989.

The school's mascot is the Razorback. The school colors are yellow and brown. The grades that attend the school range from 6-8 and are divided up into six "teams", with each grade having two teams, either C or R. Chestnut Ridge is one of three middle schools in Washington Township. The other two are Bunker Hill and Orchard Valley.

As of the 2004-05 school year, the high school had 231 students in 6th grade, 264 students in 7th grade, 250 students in 8th grade and 17 ungraded students. With 762 students and 69.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), the school had a student-teacher ratio of 11.0.[1]

After students finish 8th grade, they go to Washington Township High School or to private schools in the area.

The Chestnut Ridge Future Cities Team earned the “Environmentally Friendly Energy Systems” award at the Philadelphia Regional Future City Competition.[2] The school's Mathcounts team placed 4th in the 2006 South Jersey Regional Competition held at Rowan University. In 2007 the team place 3rd. [3]

CRMS also has a Drama Club directed by Robbert Scardino. The cast has put on such shows including Grease, Bye Bye Birdie, The Outsiders and M*A*S*H .[3]

There are also some after school sports programs. The students signing up for Lacrosse, Wrestling, and Field Hockey get to travel around to schools in the district and some schools out of district to compete.
