Chester Cathedral Choir

Chester Cathedral Choirs is one of the only choirs where they are required to sing evensong everyday. The Lay Clerks (There are currently alto, tenor and bass positions available)sing both with the boys choir and the girls and are also members often of the Nave choir

Since 1997 the choir has recruited girl sopranos as well as boy trebles, both front rows singing regularly with the lay clerks. Occasionally, the girls and boys combine for special events.

Notable recordings of the choir include "The Water of Life" (2002) and "Love Eternal" (2003)More recently the Sing for Joy collection has been completed and the Festival Evensong (2007) has just been released. The choir also broadcasts regularly on BBC Radio 3 and Radio 4.

Chester Cathedral choir is touring the USA for the first time in October (2007) Previously visiting Durham, the Cotswolds and Warwick. Currently the boys have a new Head Chorister (to be made up at the end of September) and the girls two.

The choir is directed and accompanied by a team of three professional organists and an organ scholar.
