Chester A. Congdon (ship)

The Chester A. Congdon was a bulk steel freighter named after the lawyer and capitalist of the same name. Its original name, when constructed in 1907, was Salt Lake City. The ship was renamed in 1911 when it was purchased by the Continental Steamship Company.

The Chester A. Congdon sank on November 6, 1918 in Lake Superior after departing from Fort William, Ontario. The Congdon ran aground in the fog at Canoe Rocks, near Isle Royale, which were subsequently renamed Congdon Shoal.
