Cheryl Marie Cordeiro (born 14 February 1975) was Singapore's delegate to the international Miss Universe pageant in 1999. In 1999 she held the title of Miss Singapore Universe[1] and also won the subsidiary title of "Body Beautiful" in the local contest. She played the role of "Stephanie" in the Singapore English sit-com, "Brand New Towkay" which ran on Channel 5 in 2002.

Cheryl Marie was widely known as "The Beauty with Brains" since, in addition to pursuing two separate Masters Degrees in 1999, she was also studying French as a language. In 2000/2001, she graduated with a double Masters Degree. The first degree was a Master of Art in the English Language from the National University of Singapore and the second was a Master of Science in Information Studies[2] from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore[3].

Cheryl Marie is a Eurasian Singaporean. Her mother, Rita Yong Cordeiro is Chinese (Hakka) and her father, Adrian Cordeiro, is of Portuguese descent. As a little girl, Cheryl Marie was already modelling for Singapore Metro, McDonald's and Nintendo. She studied for her GCE 'O' Levels at CHIJ Katong Convent, an all girls missionary school, which she attended from age 7 to when she became 16 years old. She then went to Victoria Junior College in Singapore for her GCE 'A' Levels before starting her tertiary education in Singapore.

While in Singapore she participated in the Eurasian Association Mentorship Programme. Since 2002 she has resided in Sweden where she has researched both critical linguistics and visual semiotics[4] and is currently pursuing a PhD in the field of linguistics after receiving a Research Funding Scholarship from the Anna Ahrenbergs Fond of the Department of Humanities, Göteborg University.

She married a Swede on 9 June 2006 in Sweden and writes on a mixture of both cerebral[5] and more light hearted topics[6] in her blog.

IQ tests, though widely accepted as an indicator of how intelligent an individual is, is nonetheless White Western male biased because they originated from the White male scientists of the West, whose socio-cultural, historical and political background are most certainly different from those of the Africans or Black Americans. These IQ tests can hardly be said to be “standard” or “universal” yet they are often taken for granted as if they were. And the intelligence of the Africans or Blacks are measured with such “standardized” and “universal” tests?”
