Cheriyamundam is a panchayath of tirur taluk.It covers an area of 11.95 km2 and includes 25760(1991)inhabitants. It is rich with natural beauty and historical places. It lies near to Tirur River. Number of old mosques and temples are there in this panchayath. Iringavur Juma masjid, vaniyannur Juma masjid, Choppante mantakm temple etc some of ancient religious centres. One ancient British banglaw is also located here. Most of the land in this area was earlier under Kozhikode samuthiri and Thrikkandyur Devaswam. After the passing of land reform act by kerala government in 1956, land was distributed to tenants. The panchayath governing body have 17 members. The present president of governing board is C.K. Usman and Elamkulath Ismail is vice-president. Now most of the families here depends on the members working abroad especially in Arabian countries and the agricultural face of the place is now changing.Cheriyamundam Abdul Hameed Madani a prominent Islahi leader is of this place.n.mohammed cheriyamundam, the author of "thoubayude kavadam" living at parappoothadam in cheriyamundam.
