Chennithala

Chennithala is a village in Alleppey district, Kerala, South India. It belongs to old Onattukara. This beautiful village is studded with paddy fields and coconut groves. The place is famous for kathakali dancer late Chennithala Chellappan Pillai and KPCC President Sri. Ramesh chennithala.
The educational institutions of the are include mahatma Boys high School, Mahatha high School for Girls, Navodaya Vidyalaya and a few lower and upper primary schools run by state Govt.
Chennithala Valiya Neelakanta Pillai, Ramavarma Thirumulpadu, Chennithala Kochu Pillai Panicker were born in Chennithala Village.Great Kathakali exponent Bramasree Mankulam Vishnu Nambuthiri,Harippad Ramakrishna Pillai, Oyoor Govinda Pillai ,Chennithala Chellappan pillai, Raghavan pillai, Kannamangalam Krishnan Kutty were learned Kathakali under Kochu Pillai Panicker at his Kathakali Kalari at Chennithala. Chennithala Chellappan pillai smaraka Kalasamskarika Samithi is conducting every year memmorial functions and Kathakali in November. Chennithala Ramakrishna Pillai, Kunjan Pillai were famous ottan thullal artists born in Chennithala village.
Thripperumphurai Mahadevar temple, Karazma Bhagavathi temple,Chala Mahadevar temple, Puthuvila Bhagavathi temple and Irampaman Subrammania swamy temple are temples of the area. In the above temples, Anpoli, Areeppara, Ayyathara festivals occur annually.Chennithala snake boat participiates at Aranmula Boat race.
Valiya perumpumpuzha bridge connects it to Thattarampalam in south of chennithala and is inagurated in the year 2002. Achankovil River flows through chennithala.
Chennithala village is 4 km north from Mavelikkara, 3 km from Mannar to south ,9 km from Harippad (towards east)and 12 km from Chengannur (towards West)Town. Nearest Railway station is Mavelikara and then Harippad.
