Cheng Ying is a character from Jin Yong's novel Return of the Condor Heroes. She is a strong, independent fighter who, along with her cousin Lu Wushuang, develops affectionate feelings for Yang Guo.
Cheng Ying grew up in the home of the Lus with her cousin Wushuang. When Li Mochou massacred the Lu family, Cheng Ying was saved by Huang Yaoshi and brought up as his disciple. She later set out to find her cousin and rescue her from Li Mochou. With the help of Yang Guo, Cheng Ying and Lu Wushuang reunite. The cousins later joined the party at the Passionless Valley to retrieve the antidote for Yang Guo. When Yang Guo fell into grief over Xiao Longnu's departure, the cousins comforted him and there, recognized him as their sworn brother.
Sixteen years later, both Cheng Ying and Wushuang fought to defend Xiang Yang from the Mongols.
