Wanderings: Chaim Potok's History of the Jews (ISBN 0394501101) was first published in 1978 by Knopf.
This historical account of the history of the Jews reflects Potok's own disillusionment with his own Judaic Orthodox background and his distaste for Roman heritage. The factual research is very well documented and the story-line unique and interesting to read. While God is almost non-existent in the book, Wanderings is griping and fascinating. This account includes his perception of Islam and Christianity. Most of his other novels are fictional which sets this piece of work apart from his regular writings.
