[edit] Editing the contents of archives
Please do not edit the contents of archives. Archives are meant to have the same text they had when a discussion originally took place and should not be altered except in certain special cases, such as libel, copyright infringement, and the concealment of personal information like real name. For example, altering signatures can change the meaning of a conversation or references to a discussion whenever a person refers to the poster by his signature. A statement like "Read Kchase's comment at [link]" can be rendered useless, because the archive is no longer an accurate history. —Centrx→talk • 02:41, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
