[edit] John D. Pollard

Re John D. Pollard - please see the associated talk page. Are you in agreement that the COI tag can be removed? Thank you. Sydneyneurology (talk) 12:57, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Not in my opinion. So far you are the only contributor to the article and you're a former student of John D Pollard. I'm not doubting your sincerity or your good intentions, but an article needs more editors than one to avoid possible WP:COI issues. If mr Pollard is as notable as you say he is, I'm sure other editors will start work on the article too and then the tag can go.  Channel ®   13:39, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

OK, will wait and see - though I did think that the hundreds of peers who have refereed his papers and book chpters, and the independent committee formed by the Australian Govt to award notable persons the Order of Australia, and the commentary in already published works (see references) were removed enough to ensure objectivity.Sydneyneurology (talk) 04:44, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm sure they are. But they're not writing the artice.  Channel ®   09:28, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
I've made some edits to the article to give it a more neutral tone and subsequently removed the COI tag. If you can live with my edits, I'd say we leave it at this.  Channel ®   08:49, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

OK - thank you. Happy with your edits. Sydneyneurology (talk) 13:44, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] List of Armenian-Russians

Hey, I see that you've been watching the page, thanks. I've requested page protection. Hopefully that will come soon. Do you think i should report them to AIV. Obviously there sock puppets or all linked somehow. Ill keep reverting the edits till we get page protection. Thanks Printer222 (talk) 14:00, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

I suggest to let the fire burn out and then revert to a clean version. Playing ping-pong with these morons only adds to their fun. They'll get bored soon.  Channel ®   14:15, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hall "The Hoover" Hunt

I wanted to apologize for declining your speedy deletion tag on the above-captioned page. (My reasoning is on the talk page there.) I certainly understand why you tagged it -- my own feeling is that this isn't a very encyclopedia-worthy topic -- but I had to regretfully conclude that it fell within the notability guidelines. If you want to take this to AfD, not only will I understand, I'll help you. Again, my apologies for second-guessing you, and if you have any questions or comments, I'm at your service. Accounting4Taste:talk 23:22, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

No need for apologies at all. If it's within the guidelines, so be it. Apparently eating 25 hot dogs makes a person notable enough to be in Wikipedia. I'm not taking this to AfD, though. There are plenty of articles with even less notable subjects that survive an AfD and I'm not in the mood to spend time and energy on this particular one. I think the notability guidelines may need some work, though.  Channel ®   23:39, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for understanding. I'm not pleased about this myself, and I agree with you that "sport" has a very elastic definition, but I've actually seen this "sport" on TV (in the brief moments before I could grab the channel changer) and have to regretfully conclude that it qualifies. If you need administrative assistance in the future, I hope you will feel free to call on me. Accounting4Taste:talk 23:46, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
We did, however, mutually manage to get rid of the nonsense that was Wickedfire. One for two. Accounting4Taste:talk 23:51, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] H. Kramer and Company.

Well, A1NTME (and other accounts) seem to want to improve the article, but don't know how without violating NPOV; of course, Correctedit is also trying to advertise at the same time, which is the problem. Assuming good faith (which we should do, for the time being at least), we can take A1NTME at his word (here), where he says that he wants to update/improve the article. I'll leave a note informing him about COI, NPOV, etc. · AndonicO Engage. 12:22, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
