I am a musician and a music scholar, specialising in ethnomusicology, especially in Chinese music and the music of the guqin zither which I play. It is my intention of studying it up to post-doctoral level (if the system allows) and to be a good player. One of my missions is to re-educate the next generation so they will be able to appreciate music from other cultures and genres (an ability currently lacking in the present generation of youngsters and chavs). I also wish to prove to my rather uncultured family that music and arts are not useless and that their views that "if music doesn't bring you material profit at the end of the day, then it is a waste of time" is wrong and flawed. I believe music and art is a defining factor that makes us human, and that without it, we are no different from animals. But now I'm waffling on! Anyhoo...
On this main userpage, you can find out a bit about my life, with my bio, etc. For information about my qin activities and my repertoire list (including my recordings), go to the Guqin section. The Archives page contain old material which are no longer used but may be worth a read for reference purposes. To see my up-to-date artistic works, literature, journals, etc, as well as the sites I frequent regularly go to the Links section (also the place to go for defunct pages that I've removed from the top menu). If you want to talk to me about wiki projects and articles, the Talkpage is the place to go; other than that, you can E-mail me for anything outside wiki issues. Ho hum!
By the way, this page contains Chinese characters and you'll need to switch the CJK IME of your computers on if you only see boxes or gibberish. You may not be able to read Chinese but at least this way you will be able to ooh and aah at the actual beauty of Chinese characters than empty boxes...
