The following are some common abbreviations used in edit summaries, discussions, and processes. It is recommended that users avoid unnecessary jargon in discussions to make discussions accessible to newcomers.

- nn: non-notable
- rm: remov(ed)
- rv: revert(ed)
- rvv: revert(ed) vandalism
- IAR: Ignore all rules
- NPOV: Neutral point of view
- POV: "point of view." Used as an adjective to describe ter
- prod: Proposed deletion
- XfD: a deletion debate; the X is a variable that stands for another letter in terms such as Articles for deletion, miscellany for deletion, etc.. The "D" sometimes stands for "discussion."
