Talk:Chatham, Massachusetts
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am from Chatham and we learn in school that a singular and particular inn in Chatham makes three times the amount of the entire fishing industry there of. If you want to know more about why, check out this entry: [1] In closing I mention that sustainable fishing is possible but it requires skill and effort, not lobbyist and barges.
[edit] self promotion
Hi all - User:NORMLAllen has added a wiki links to NORML and Allen St. Pierre. This is highly suggestive of self-promotion. Can any one else verify that these links and articles are sufficiently encyclopedic? Debivort 22:44, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- After snooping around a bit, it appears more legitimate. The Allen St. Pierre article appears to have been started by someone with no vested interest, and NORMLAllens edits to that article have not been inappropriate. My sense is that everything is on the level. Debivort 22:46, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] CBI
I think that the Chatham Bars Inn link should be removed from 'External Links' as it promotes a specific business. We already have posted links to the Lodging Association and Chamber of Commerce, which speak on behalf of CBI and all other inns, B&B's, hotels, motels and cabins. --Ahouhoulis 17:48, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- Fine! Go for it. Debivort 21:21, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
I've deleted it. –Ahouhoulis 05:21, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Other inappropriate external links
In reviewing the external links, three of them seemed appropriate to be included in this article.
When I visited the 'Good Morning Chatham' blog, my impression was that a high share of posts were simply complaints about tourists, certain businesses, etc. While it's fine to provide a venue for venting, it adds no information 'about' Chatham, instead merely reflecting on the character of the posters.
'The Orb of Chatham' is a purely commercial plug and does not belong here.
The 'blog' associated with MyChatham.com (described as 'Chatham's Town Message Board and Community Center') is duplicative of the town's official & nonprofit sources of information at best, and a commercial plug at worst.
I propose the deletion of all three. –Ahouhoulis 05:31, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
I've deleted them. --Ahouhoulis 03:45, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
