Having difficulty verifying town history. Believe it was originally gazetted as "Yowen Hill" in 1863, renamed East Charlton in 1876 and Charlton in 1879 as per The Vale of Avoca link. Need to verify for accuracy. MJK 06:33, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
