To answer my own question, I suspect from perusing WP:BIO that notability for ambassadors is not automatic, but I'm sure there must be quite a bit of newspaper coverage.Alice.S 22:37, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

With the number of countries now exceeding 225 on this planet, the number of theoretically possible ambassadorships exceeds 50,000! Surely you're not arguing that they would all be inherently notable? --Orange Mike | Talk 22:33, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

No, I see that they do not automatically qualify - but under the general qualifications as to notability they are almost all likely to be potential candidates - the limit is whether editors chose to make decent articles after a reasonable time interval.

You should also be aware that the possible maximum is reduced considerably by many ambassadors "covering" for nearby territories and the fact that most of those countries are too poor to afford diplomatic accreditation in all but a minority of countries. Alice.S 03:08, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

Alice.S, you have achieved nothing by stalking me onto this page, or any of the other ten or so pages. Perhaps you ought to spend your time doing something other than copying and pasting "ignorant and mindlessly" over and over again. Just a suggestion. Is the Gentleman a politician? Not all countries follow the US practice of making some consular appointments a party political rather than career diplomat choice. (And please keep on topic - even though you created this article it is perfectly acceptable for me to suggest improvements. Please comment on particular edits and not the editor). If one reads Template:Cite web one will see that it is unnecessary to

1. specify "HTML" as a site format since that is assumed by default and
2. specify "|accessyear=2007" if a full ISO "acessdate" (such as 2007-11-28) has been specified in the same templated citation.

Consequently, please would someone correct:
