Talk:Charles-Louis Hanon/Comments

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am very interested in the controversy over Hanon, because I share the doubts of some people. I have been using his exercises recently, and my facility has improved hugely, but I also wonder if I am losing the soul of my playing.

I am particularly interested to read that Chopin, one of the composers I most love and admire, was possibly against the finger-centric technique of 19th century teachers.

I have a dvd of Rubinstein playing the concertos, and it is limpid, articulated and - kind of empty - and I very specifically don't want to end up playing like that. John160251 (talk) 23:53, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
