[edit] Relationship to Galloanserae
There's an EvoWiki article linked to the Fowl (Galloanserae) article that claims Anseriformes are closer related to the Charadriiformes than Galliformes; the latter of which is the current scientific consensus. It goes into some interesting detail about the Anseri's filtering beak adaptations; could it be possible that Charadri were possibly the earliest descendants of the Galloanserae, or among them?
