Article 49 reads: "The Members of the United Nations shall join in affording mutual assistance in carrying out the measures decided upon by the Security Council." What does this actually require members to do? Do they have to contribute military units to support UN missions, for instance, if called upon to do so? Captain Zyrain 03:28, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
