Talk:Channel 6 (Ireland)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rather than create a big list on this page, does anyone else think it would be a good idea to make a category of "Shows broadcast by Channel 6". I mean, Channel 4 (UK) has one, and so do some others. - RHeodt 12:59, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- I think move the list to its own article or maybe dump it altogether. Djegan 19:27, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- My main objection, is that I don't like lists where they're not neccessary. I think categories are much easier to use. I also have an objection to it being here, but that's taking the backseat. - RHeodt 21:59, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- I'm more inclined to these kind of lists to be honest, they are well established on Wikipedia, all the Irish stations have lists, as does Channel 4, and I don't particularly like the idea of loads of categories at the end of articles. For example, if we were to convert all lists of <channel> programmes to categories, a show like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation would potentially end up with something like a hundred categories at the bottom of it. I would prefer if TV shows were only put into categories related to their production or the original network that aired them - for example My Name Is Earl is in the categories Category:NBC network shows and Category:Fox Television Studios shows. I would say that if Take Six et al had articles then they should be in a seperate category, a sub-category of Category:Irish television programmes, but imported programming should stay in lists. As for breaking the list out, should probably be done soon enough, I only kept it in the main article because it's not that long yet and they haven't all been broadcast. -- Lochaber 02:31, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
- Considering the list already seems to be either out of date or incorrect (e.g. Prison Break is not being shown) should the page just link to the channel's own version (http://www.channel6.ie/programmes.whtm)?
- To be honest when I orignally created the list it only had the shows that they were scheduled to be broadcast then when it was launched the list was changed to currently being broadcast however someone has now edit respchanged the list to include shows that they will be broadcasting the future, to take your example Prison Break, they aren't currently broadcasting but they have the rights to broadcast it a few months after RTÉ, it has been in a lot of their publicity and in the show reel that is looped when the channel is off air, as has The Inside. I think I'll split the list into currently broadcast and announced. -- Lochaber 09:08, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dead Like Me
I have removed the reference to Dead Like Me being on Network Two as this does not seem to be the case. To be fair I have also removed all reference to Dead Like Me since it hasn't been on a while Channel 6 in a while however I cannot find any reference to Dead Like Me on RTÉ except on here. -- Lochaber 20:55, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Channel 6 (Ireland).png
Image:Channel 6 (Ireland).png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
