[edit] Summary

Description

The remnants of the earthworks of Chain Battery at West Point, New York. The western end of the Great Chain was attached in this small cover during the American Revolutionary War. The cannons in this battery, well hidden in the cove, would have opened fire on a British ship had any ever attempted to sail through the chain.
